Description Jimmy Mohsin CLA 2008-08-01 02:47:58 EDT
We need to identify a source for an information model (perhaps the CML Worksgroup?). A post 1.0 version of COSMOS should provide a reference implementation for this information model.
Comment 1 Jimmy Mohsin CLA 2008-08-01 02:48:43 EDT
Changed priority.
Comment 2 Jimmy Mohsin CLA 2008-08-01 03:01:59 EDT

PMC approved new CQs for these two files:

http://dev.eclipse.org/ipzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2792
http://dev.eclipse.org/ipzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2793

Comment from PMC on the MS Word document:

"FWIW, It'd be nice to see this document in an open format (e.g. ODT, DocBook,
DITA, or HTML)"

Sounds like a comment someone else made previously. ;-) We should try to resolve the formatting issues using OpenOffice and convert to the ODT format in the long term. It's not good to require proprietary software to maintain the document (even if MS Word is highly available).

Next step is to receive Eclipse IP approval on those files, after which I can commit the files to CVS.

The XSD file has been approved for checkin due to parallel IP. I have created the new project and checked in the file to HEAD in the following location: org.eclipse.cosmos/resource-modeling/org.eclipse.cosmos.rm.example.rtx

The .doc file is awaiting further review because of the unique licensing terms. Committers can see http://dev.eclipse.org/ipzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2793 for more information and to follow the progress.

Update on description doc IP approval:

Hi David:

Yes, this is quite new and while there is a proposal before the Board to permit
the use of alternative licenses for Non-Code content going forward, the
practice has not yet been approved (though we expect it will be).

That being said, this CQ does not qualify for checkin based on Parallel IP at
this time.

Thanks,
Sharon

I'm adding myself on copy for this bugzilla. As part of the SDD work I have a profile which is a "snapshot" of a resource model currently based on CIM. I would like to explore using the attached information model in lieu of the profile and incorporate SDD needs into the attached model provided there is agreement with this direction. In particular I think exploration around fleshing out "SoftwareInstallationType" is needed.
Comment 9 David Whiteman CLA 2009-04-01 13:04:11 EDT
The implementation of this enhancement has morphed into defining a federation and reconciliation catalog. Please open another enhancement if we want to define a basic data model that extends past the scope of identifying information.
Comment 10 David Whiteman CLA 2009-05-26 15:38:00 EDT
This should not have been marked previously as fixed, but now can be considered fixed, as the accompanying doc is now checked in to CVS HEAD.
Comment 11 David Whiteman CLA 2009-05-27 09:55:27 EDT
I obsoleted version 0.80 because that was not the version that was checked in. Mark will attach version 0.81 here and I'll add the iplog+ flag.
