Description Bernhard Merkle CLA 2008-07-15 06:34:12 EDT
following some improvements for the Dialog "Avaiable Software Sites"
I file them as one bug, feel free to split into several if you think this makes sense: (

- please add a filter facility. (currently a filter is only on the main page but not in "Available Software Sites"). As the number of entries in "Available Software Sites" is usually large, it is really needed there.

- Buttons "Import" and "Export" apply to ALL elements, not only the selected ones. This is not obvious as "Add" and "Remove" only applies to ONE element.
So please either rename the "Import" and "Export" button to "Export All", etc. or make this operation context sensitive (single selection, multiple selection)

- maybe group urls with the same starting address into a tree ?
this would make this dialog much more handy (and consistent do other p2 dialogs).
At the moment it is NOT easy to find out which URL you are selection (the name tab is too small, even for the default entries, present after a usual installation)

Thanks, Bernhard. We have two open bugs about this dialog. A list of "short term" improvements to make to current dialog (bug #234754), and a discussion of a better presentation of large numbers of sites that also includes discussion of user discovery of sites (bug #218534).

I copied your comments to those two bugs and cc'ed you on each.
