Hello,

I have shown the output of the documentation plugin to various people and the feedback I am getting is
that it looks strange and not user-friendly enough. 

People in their head are making the comparison either with interface documentation (like javadoc) or model documentation, like html output of a UML tool. 

what I think is missing is 
 - a left toolbar that would list all the artefacts
 - a top toolbar that would point to the various groups of objects
