Description Markus Kuppe CLA 2008-06-26 10:04:08 EDT
The UM connects to/reads either "associateSitesURL", "digestURL" or "mirrorsURL" if set in a site.xml. This is not always wanted. E.g. if a local (internal) mirror is to be used.

The concrete use case is Buckminster which makes heavy use of the UM to resolve and materialize remote components into the workspace. To speed things up, I've set up a local (+ internal) eclipse.org mirror. Unfortunately the UM still connects to mirrorsURL, digestURL and associateSitesURL set in the mirrored site.xml to build up the SiteModel.

Additionally digestURL causes a lot of load to verified the bundles on the mirror.

My initial attempt is to use system properties to turn off parsing in org.eclipse.update.core.model.DefaultSiteParser.processSite(Attributes). But I guess there is a much more elegant way of doing this. Any hints?

The Eclipse Update component is no longer under development, and no longer exists in the Eclipse Platform 4.x stream. If this problem still occurs in Eclipse Platform 4.2 or later, please enter a new bug report against Equinox p2.
