Steps To Reproduce:
1. Start Eclipse
2.  Go to software update
3.  Start to type 'birt' in the filter window.  Only gets as far as 'bi' then spinning beachball appears.  Eclipse unresponsive and still dead 5 minutes later.


More information:
Using OSX 10.5.2
Installed in /Applications/Addons/eclipse 
Using a fresh workspace with no contents
