Description Andy Brook CLA 2002-09-03 07:07:07 EDT
Ive just installed 2.01, tried the 'new updates' feature under Help and got
bored waiting, probably busy server :), so anyhow, I select cancel, but the
thing just sits there for 30s until something times out.

Surely cancel should interrupt the update cycle providing immediate termination?

exact same thing using Install/Update perspective, FeatureUpdates/Available Updates.

...which is understandable considering it is the exact same code that does the
searching :-).

The problem is that remote site connection is part of the search as as of now
it is synchronous i.e. we block until we connect to the site. At any other
point of the search/update, we do check the state of the 'Cancel' button but
not while the connection blocks.

There are several other (duplicate) defects that are reporting the same
problem. I will resolve this defect the same way. The related defect is
talking about frozen connection, but it is all the same problem.
