The current Eclipse project web site has no information on how to find Ganymede milestone builds or any information to encourage people to test out 3.4.
There is a link in the first paragraph of the main page body to the downloads page. Then, there is a list of three links, the second one being "Downloads", followed by a list of some of the kinds of downloads available there. Then there is the project links sidebar on the right hand side, whose first link is again to our downloads page. Are you just suggesting we have more descriptive text about what this means?
> Are you just suggesting we have more descriptive > text about what this means? > I think you should be adding items that promote the fact that new milestone builds are available and explain why and how people should download them. Bug 205205 points to a concern that people are finding it hard to find the milestone builds and are not providing feedback. Besides altering the main download page, one solution is that the Platform team provides more explanation of their project home page.
I have added the following sentence next to the download link: "You can find the current release here. Or, download the latest stable and integration builds if you want to try out the newest features under development, or get started with contributing to the project." Car, any other suggestions?
CCing Denis. I was thinking that we should add an icon to make the links more visible. See bug 205205 comment 53 for more thoughts. Re Ganymede testing, I wonder if we should consider adding a link to the top of http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads?
This bug is about it being hard to find milestone/integration builds on http://eclipse.org/eclipse. I'm going to mark this fixed based on my changes in comment #3. I think most people looking for downloads start from a google search and will actually never see this page, so I think it is now good enough.
