Description David Whiteman CLA 2008-04-04 15:02:16 EDT
It is difficult for site visitors to understand what COSMOS provides and where it is today. Much of the information is not well organized or is just simply outdated. As a starter, we should provide different content for the "What is COSMOS?" link found on the main COSMOS site. We could include more links in that box for more advanced topics.

In order to build interest in the project, we need a clear and attractive presentation on our site. IMO, this should be prioritized for the near term, based on frequent comments we heard at EclipseCon of this nature.

I marked this as "future" since I doubt there's time to do it for i11, and there isn't yet a i12 bugzilla target, but this is very important for us to do as this is where potential adopters first go to learn about the project.

Problems understanding our project from the web site were a frequent comment we heard at EclipseCon this year.

The "what is cosmos?" link points to the old proposal. I know we are working on an updated proposal, but there should probably be something higher level that talks to the potential adopter, with a link to the proposal therein.

After speaking with David, we got the following data:

Two problems:
1. What is COSMOS? What is it? What kinds of things can it do for me?
2. Can't tell where things stood. Someone who looked at COSMOS a few months earlier and went back to it, what was completed and what was there now. And where we want to take things.

They were developers and they were people who wanted to build something. Partially architects as well. They were looking to use COSMOS to achieve their business goals.
