Cannot install BIRT with Eclipse M6.

When installing the N-R1-2_3_0-N20080320-200803200800 BIRT driver with the I20080320-0800 Eclipse driver (see http://wiki.eclipse.org/TPTP_Installation_with_p2_Equinox for installation instructions), the BIRT plug-ins are not loaded and the following errors are reported in the Eclipse .log file:

I've installed with TPTP-all-in-one,BIRT,GEF,DTP,WTP,SDO and use the install instruction above, when i run eclipse.exe -clean for the first time, it will choose the default workspace of eclipse and open it

(ie. in my machine,
osgi.instance.area=file:/C:/Documents and Settings/TonyWang/workspace/
osgi.instance.area.default=file:/C:/Documents and Settings/TonyWang/workspace/
)

but after the second time, the workspace launcher will come out and all test prefenences appear in prefenence page

This seems to solved by installing the SDO/WTP dependencies.  Does BIRT/DTP have a hard dependencies on SDO/WTP?

BIRT has dependencies on DTP, GEF, EMF and WTP. DTP recently removed their SDO dependency as part of https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=216487.

BIRT has removed dependency of SDO (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=217863).

But one optional sub-feature org.eclipse.birt.report.designer.ui.editor.xml.wtp requires WTP now, which makes BIRT requires SDO indirectly.

Using the latest M6 builds for BIRT/DTP, SDO is no longer required:

GEF-runtime-I200803262022.zip
birt-report-framework-2_3_0-N20080320.zip
dtp-1.6M6-200803140500.zip

However, installing BIRT/DTP without WTP causes the BIRT/DTP plug-ins to not be loaded (see attached .log).  Installing WTP resolves the problem.  As such, decreasing the severity to Critical.
