From bug 196447 comment 21: Even if the input line is resized, keyboard up/down naviagtion in the line is not possible.

We need to find a way to properly navigate in the input line as well as navigate the history. Suggested solution is to use Ctrl+up/down for history navigation, with some kind of visual feedback to the user telling him how the history can be navigated.
