Description Kathy Chan CLA 2008-02-11 16:54:21 EST
In the Web services wizard, we need to find out if a particular types of module needs to be associated with an EAR in order to be installeding on a particular server type. We need an API that would take module type, J2EE version and server type as parameter and return whether:
- an EAR is REQUIRED for adding that module type on the server type OR
- an EAR is OPTIONAL for adding that module type on the server type OR
- that server type cannot take an EAR with that module type (i.e. that module type should be added directly to that kinds of server type).

We need this for WTP 3.0 M6.

Hi Angel,

Over to you as discussed.

Angel, do you have an outlook of when this change would be checked in? We would appreciate if this can be done by the 03/19 integration build so that we could make the corresponding changes in Web services in time for M6. Thanks!

Kathy,
I will start working on this tomorrow. I will try to get it ready for the 19th Integration build.

Hi Kathy,
I do not believe it is worth it to implement this feature. It is a valid request, but I don't think the effort and changes on both of our components justify the minimal new support, especially when other parts of WTP, server adapters, and adopter products would need to react as well before this would really be useful. I am going to close as WONTFIX for now and we can always revisit if priorities change.

Closing.
