Description Valerie Griffin CLA 2007-12-04 12:47:58 EST
Build ID: I20070625-1500

Steps To Reproduce:
1.I'm using Reflection X on a PC to connect to a Linux box for my development. I'm using a 21" monitor that I run at a very high resolution so I don't have to maximize the UI in order to use it,
2.Open and close the workbench. The window gradually becomes wider and shorter....
3.It may help make the problem show up if you maximize and normalize the window sometimes.

More information:
This is probably the same as old bug 24724.

I did some digging in the files in my workspace/.metadata directory. I found the file:
workspace/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.ui.workbench/workbench.xml
which contains the window size pretty early in the file.

I did a "more" operation on the file. Then, I opened myEclipse, maximized, unmaximized, and closed myEclipse. I repeated this and did another "more".

I got the following window specifications for the three uses of "more"

<window height="1320" width="1203" x="589" y="27">
<window height="1318" width="1207" x="589" y="27">
<window height="1316" width="1211" x="589" y="27">

It appears that the max/unmax operation makes the window 2 pixels shorter and 4 pixels wider. Maybe a border is being counted incorrectly somewhere.

I have a similar problem but not with the workbench window. The window size problem occurs for dialog windows which can't be resized with the mouse. I'm using eclipse Galileo with the CDT 6 plugin on a coLinux installation. The workbench is the accessed through a Xming X-server running on windows Vista Pro.
For now I have been forced to manually resize the "find - replace"-dialog (in {workspace dir}/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.ui.ide/dialog_settings.xml) and the "Make clean"-dialog (in {workspace dir}/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.ui.workbench.texteditor/dialog_settings.xml)

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
