Proposed patch to fix this bug.

Build ID: M20071023-1652

Steps To Reproduce:
Precondition: you're running Eclipse on Mac OS X.

1. Open Preferences.
2. Select Java -> Installed JREs.
3. Click Add...
4. Browse to a Standard VM home, e.g. Soylatte.
5. Eclipse prevents setting vm as a Standard VM.

More information:
Eclipse assumes that there are no Standard VMs for Mac OS X. This is no longer true. See http://landonf.bikemonkey.org/static/soylatte/ for a counterexample.

BTW, the Soylatte project page advises to install Soylatte as a "MacOS X VM", but this is just an incomplete workaround. This breaks ant builders, for example, unless "Set an Input handler" is unchecked, because Eclipse passes Soylatte the invalid VM command line option "-XstartOnFirstThread".

Move to JDT/Debug
Comment 2 Andreas Böckler CLA 2007-12-12 09:07:00 EST
Sideeffect on JST/WST:
This affects publishing to J2EE-Server-Runtime which is running with the above mentioned VM.
You can't turn off "Set an Input handler" for this.
