For old report(BIRT2.3M4), if the sort direction of base series is set, use the base series expression as default sort key.

It works for me with the latest source today. Can you please double check 
again? I see the data is sorted in descending order in the report, like 
specified in the chart builder. The ascending order also works.

Please preview this report in the Daily Build:v20071207-0800. I sorted X-axis in ascending order, but the sort does not take any effect when previewing the report.

In the regression_202131.reportdesign attahed, this bug can be reproduced.

The fix depends on 208412, the group checking logic should be changed in 208412.

Modified grouping enabled checking logic to avoid this case, check the grouping setting in chart model to decide if it is needed to sort by chart.
