When using focus follows mouse (a.k.a X-mouse, sunmouse), Eclipse tends to pop up to the front when it is activated by hovering the mouse above it. It should be possible to get focus without raising the window. The window should not be raised unless you click in it. The behaviour is not even consistent; sometimes it is possible to focus on Eclipse and it will stay in its place, but just as often it will jump to the top. I use TweakUI to enable focus follows mouse in Windows 2000.
Not sure whether this is Platform UI or SWT. Test Case: 1. start fresh Eclipse 2. switch to non-eclipse app 3. move mouse over Package Explorer and back to app ==> OK 4. move mouse over Package Explorer and back to app ==> still OK 5. now move mouse over another view, e.g. Outline ==> Eclipse takes focus
I can't seem to get a repeatable case, although I can make the problem happen about 1 in 50 tries. Anyone?
I usually get this behavious in about 10-20% of the times when I move over Eclipse main window. But I can repeat it almost 100% of the time when I move over two window views that I have detached from the Eclipse main window. In this case I have one window showing the Debug view and one showing an NTail view. If I move from another window and then over these two windows so that first one, then the other gets focus, then the entire Eclipse app jumps to the top of everything. I have set the delay for focus follows mouse to 0.
> Anyone? Yep, I can easily repeat using my steps (1 in 4 tries). I have WinXP Classic style. Important is that you choose a different view when coming back to the Eclipse window the second time.
Created attachment 83411 [details] Image of my test setup If I move the mouse from left to right and back several times (4 times at most) inside the red area I get the activation.
Can you make it happen without the classic XP style?
NOTE: The problem may now be fixed by changes to fix 213017 which changed the way we worked around Windows in bug 182547. Is it fixed?
... changes to fix bug 213017 ...
#!%$@$^%@#$^%@ buglizzzzzard!!!!
> Is it fixed? No. I can still reproduce using 3.4 M4.
