Description Amy Wu CLA 2007-10-26 10:33:46 EDT
using eclipse-SDK-I20071023-0800-win32

1. start in java perspective
2. create a new general or java project
3. close java perspective
4. open resource perspective
**5. no projects are shown in the project explorer
6. create another project in the resource view
**7. the newly created project still doesn't show up
8. close the workbench and open it back up again
**9. projects still don't show up
10. right-click in the project explorer, then the project shows up.

I think there are some weird timing issues because I was able to see this problem sometimes, but not all the time. The set of steps I provided though seems to work all the time when trying to reproduce this problem.

Actually, I think the trick to reproducing this problem is to close all prospectives then open a prospective that contains the project explorer.

And I've always found that even right-clicking the project explorer view does not always make the projects visible. I think that only works the first time you try it. But if you close all prospectives again and then open one back up again, right-clicking won't make the projects reappear in the project explorer.

This became a big issue for the WTP project. Unfortunately, we have to ship this bug with WTP M3. I hope it will be fixed soon for M4.

Amy, Kaloyan, any messages in the logs? My guess is there'd be some exception being thrown?

Michael, are you able to reproduce this? Or do you need help reproducing it?

Comment 5 Kaloyan Raev CLA 2007-11-14 19:04:11 EST
No message in the error logs. 100% reproducible.

See bug 208462 for another steps to reproduce the problem.

I should be able to look at this next week.
Comment 7 Michael D. Elder CLA 2007-11-25 19:03:10 EST
This is a duplicate of bug 208462. The key step is closing a perspective and then re-opening a new perspective.
