Description Wassim Melhem CLA 2007-05-22 11:02:29 EDT
When you apply the patch attached to bug 128236 to pde.ui, Search Participants stop working properly.

1. Create a Hello world plug-in named 'com.example.abc'
2. Search for references to package 'com.example.abc*'

Note how there are hits in both the manifest.mf and plugin.xml files.

Double-click on the manifest.mf hit, the annotation shows fine. Press the Down arrow in the Search view, you will go to the next hit, but there are no annotations.

PDE currently has to (purposely) break the Open Manifest Editor behavior so that this bug does not get encountered (bug 128236)

is this for 3.4?

This bug in particular makes me sad :(

Maybe Karsten (screenshot tool genius) can make himself useful and fix it :)

Seeing that we never ask JDT and/or Search for anything, this bug really makes me sad :(

It's only the search marker that is missing, right? Navigation (opening, previous and next) work fine.
So I would rather categorize this as minor. I'll still have a look at it as long as promise to lighten up!

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
