Not sure if its SWT or JFace.

Going from Java Browsing Perspective to opening (ie. Window->Open
Perspective...) the CVS Repo Perspective, the task view became orphaned.

This to happened in a somewhat fresh workspace. In the screen shot which I will
attach, you can see that the task view is left orphaned and floating. You can
operate the controls within it but you can move or close it by either the close
button or popup view menu. Note the task view is not part of the CVS Repo
perspective.

I noticed this once in 0530?/31? but couldn't get it to happen again and
blamed it on low resources at the time, which this shows to be irrelevant.

I suspect it's a Workbench problem. We saw something similar in F1 but
thought we had fixed it. See also bug 18642.

Note: I have not seen this on windows, but did see it on both linux/motif
and hpux/motif.

Looks like a dup of 18929.

The patch did not fix my problem.
Step to reproduce.
1) Open Java perspective.
2) Show Synchronize View, then stack it on top of the Tasks View at the bottom
center. (I also have Console and Search stacked there. On the right side I
have JUnit and Outline Views)
3) Close Synchronize View.
4) Synchronize a project with changes.
5) Close Syncrhonize View.
6) Syncrhonize again (I'm using a different project the second time, probably
doesn't matter).

BUG: The previous view (Console, for me) remains visible. Synchronize Tab is
selected. double-clicking on the Stacked Parts causes the entire Perspective
to go blank (gray).

Reopening.

What setting do you have for opening views: as fast views or normal views?
Comment 7 Gunnar Wagenknecht CLA 2002-06-06 07:34:08 EDT
Hi!

I've also noticed that sometimes a new view is opend automatically, its not
docked into the view it was last time but placed behind the view.

Example:
- mainly fresh workspace with a created plugin project (Test)
- Java perspective
- open views: packages (upper left), outline (lower left), tasks (bottom)
- editors are opened for a java file and plugin.xml

The first time I double-click in plugin.xml extentions on a element, property
view is opened and docked into tasks view. I immediately close the property
view. If I now double-click on the extension element of plugin.xml again, the
property view is opened behind the task view. I have to move or close the task
view to get the property view.

My settings for open views: "as normal views".

Cu, Gunnar
