Description Oisin Hurley CLA 2007-04-30 07:48:53 EDT
It would be very useful for all members to synchronize with one calendar
instance at Google so that they can keep up to date with Eclipse events.

Reassigning to Karl and adding to his queue.
Comment 2 Bjorn Freeman-Benson CLA 2007-06-11 13:04:43 EDT
I am interpretting this bug as "please provide a Google Calendar for Project and Proposal Reviews". Oisin, if you meant something else (some other set of events), please update this bug or open another one.

This should include things like Architecture Council things and etc... if not a google calendar, email notices should come with .ical entries.

+1

I'm getting Google Calendar invites for the AC already, but Anne and I were experimenting with calendar interoperability, so maybe that's why.

A big +1. Especially if maintenance is shared amongst interested parties (like PMCs, PLs, council members, and board reps, to name but a few) so that everyone can contribute.

I started one for the Ganymede dates (generalized & expanded from one that Paul Elder started for the M2T dates), hoping that someone else would volunteer to add to it -- no luck on that front. http://wiki.eclipse.org/Ganymede#Milestones_and_Release_Candidates

Given that you can subscribe to multiple calendars, toggle them on/off, and each one can be uniquely coloured, I think it's best to have one per set of events, as shown in the attached screenshot of my calendar. For example... Coordinated Releases, Release Reviews, Council Meetings, Conferences / Events, etc. Maybe that's overkill, maybe not.

Cool Nick.

For Foundation related activities, I'd expect the Foundation to maintain a calendar or send out .ical type notices to interoperate with people's existing calendar. Individual Projects can maintain their own calendars and share them with the world.

Adding Lynn and Ian, since tracking events seems to be right up their alley.

Unless I'm missing something here?

As mentioned in related bug 213038, a Google calendar for Board meetings and related working group calls is done with info sent out to the Board mailing list. Janet has write access to add IP call info there as well.

There's already a public calendar for Eclipse Live events (icons at top of
http://live.eclipse.org) and I added a public calendar for Eclipse Foundation
events (icons at top of http://www.eclipse.org/community/events/), which will
include members' meetings.

Does anyone else have other calendars to add?

Marking as fixed. Please re-open if other Google calendars are needed.
