Launch eclipse using the following bat file:
e:
cd \opt\eclipse-SDK-3.3M6\eclipse\plugins
java -verify -Xmx1024M -Xss512k -jar org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_*jar -data f:/workspaces/e33i_new -showlocation -console -consoleLog -showversion -vmargs -verify -Xmx1024M -Xss512k

(assuming eclipse is installed into e:\opt\eclipse-SDK-3.3M6 and that f:\workspaces\e33i_new is a brand new workspace)

Navigate to the workspace.
Open File/Switch Workspace/Other...
Type in a suitable target workspace name.
Click OK.
Get a 'Missing System Property' dialog box with message 'Unable to relaunch the platform because the eclipse.vm property has not been set'.

My java version is:
java version "1.5.0_11"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_11-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_11-b03, mixed mode)
