Right now it's painful to run import operations with our PDE UI tests. It would be nice to decouple the import operations from the import wizards a bit more. This would also provide a nice opportunity to lay down a framework for all operations in PDE to be Eclipse jobs.

I am not sure why you find it painful.

Isn't it just matter of calling PluginImportOperation and passing in arguments?
