Description Chris Elford CLA 2006-11-22 19:52:16 EST
I finally got around to installing the new agent controller and profiler on my system and trying it out. I stared at the getting started guides for both the agent controller and the new profiler for quite a while in order to get to the right incantation to get them to install.

Part of my confusion is due to the fact that I am somewhat a novice with using the Eclipse platform for development and the TPTP profiler for analysis.

I wrote up a concise summary of the necessary steps and will attach. I can try it again when 4.3 is locked down and post and updated summary.

Thanks,

Chris

Here is the most concise set of steps that I could follow to get the new profiler to execute successfully.

Repeated with the latest release candidate. Updated to use either the "all in one" bundle or the individual packages.

TPTP 4.3 JVMTI Profiler "Getting Started" Guide (draft)

I have attached an updated version of the Getting Started Guide for the TPTP 4.3 JVMTI Profiler. I wonder when can we get an approval to upload this document to the TPTP web site...

Not literally a change to the getting started manual but rather the creation of a faq for profiling
Comment 8 Chris Elford CLA 2007-08-16 18:11:21 EDT
This can also relate to creation of wizards and such.

As of TPTP 4.6.0, TPTP is in maintenance mode and focusing on improving quality by resolving relevant defects and increasing test coverage through test creation, automation, Build Verification Tests (BVTs), and expanded run-time execution. As such, TPTP is not delivering enhancements. As part of the TPTP Bugzilla housecleaning process (see http://wiki.eclipse.org/Bugzilla_Housecleaning_Processes), this enhancement is resolved as WONTFIX. For this enhancement to be considered, please re-open with an attached patch including the Description Document (see http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/documents/process/development/description_documents.html), code (see http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/documents/resources/TPTPDevGuide.htm), and test cases (see http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/documents/process/TPTP_Testing_Strategy.html).
