Description jay_schmidgall CLA 2006-10-18 15:49:03 EDT
I've just started running with dual monitors and have noticed that some popup dialogs (incorrectly) appear on the monitor different than Eclipse is running on, and some do not. I would suspect some kind of parenting or root window lookup problem. I am running with Eclipse on the second (not primary) monitor.

I should note that when Eclipse itself opened, it opened on the primary monitor and I dragged it to the secondary monitor. Subsequent restarts and Eclipse opens on the second monitor.

Dialogs that correctly appear over Eclipse on the correct secondary monitor (not a complete list):

File>Save As
Edit>Find/Replace (also via Ctrl-F)
Navigate>Go to Line
Search>Search
Window>Properties
Window>Open Perspective>Other
Project>Generate Javadoc
Help>About
Open Resource (Ctrl-Shift-R in Java perspective)

Dialogs that incorrectly appear on the primary monitor (again, probably not a complete list):

Project>Clean (1)
Window>New Window
Open Type (Ctrl-Shift-T in Java perspective) (1)

(1) These dialogs initially opened on the primary monitor. After dragging the dialog to the secondary monitor, they opened on the secondary monitor subsequently, even after a restart. However, if I then drag Eclipse back to the primary monitor, the dialogs in the first list continue to open over Eclipse, while the dialogs in the second list still open on the secondary monitor until I also drag them back above Eclipse.
