Build: I20061017-0800 1) Maximized a view 2) Double-clicked the view tab to restore it. -> Now I'm in a state where all other parts remain as fast views and I have just the restored view and the editor area available. The fast view bars cannot be restored (restore button does nothing). There is no context menu on the FVB so I cannot restore or close individual views. The only way to get views back into the workbench window is to expand the fast view, close the view, reopen the view, and hope it doesn't reappear in the broken fast view stack.

Created attachment 52136 [details] Screen shot with multiple instances of debug view Yikes, if I try to reopen a view that resides in one of those broken FVBs, I end up with two instances of the view.
I'm making this a blocker because I need to roll back to the previous I-build.
Are you using the 3.3 experimental presentation? If so, switching to 'Default' could help.

Yes, there is a workaround: Switch to default presentation, shutdown, restart, reset all perspectives, and you're back to normal. Reducing severity.
I've already checked in code to prevent this scenario from occurring (the 'closeTrimGroup method had been mistakenly no-op'd. I'll check tomorrow to make sure that the commit notice is still waiting for me to hit the button before I mark his fixed...
Committed in >20061017. Aaargh!! Sorry folks; some unwanted code slipped in along with the fix for bug 160543. Restored the missing code... John, the second effect we were seeing (the stacks appearing in the bottom trim as opposed to where they should go) is a generic issue. It occurs in I20061010. The problem is that I hide the editor area then try to use its position to calculate the positions of the stacks...
Marking as fixed since we're back to the original behaviour...
