Description Uwe Stieber CLA 2006-10-17 06:08:37 EDT
Browsing the local files tree and trying to open files like PDF files or Open Office documents is ending with the files opened in the Eclipse text editor. Even explicitly using "Open with -> Default Editor", which is usualy opening the tool associated by the system, does not lead to the PDF reader or Open Office to launch and show the document. Double clicking the document from Windows Explorer is absolutly fine, the associated tool opens with no problem.

Using the text editor instead of the default editor can also lead to severe problems when opening binary files like PPT -- see bug 158673. This should really be fixed - Kushal, any status?
Comment 2 Kushal Munir CLA 2006-10-24 18:44:07 EDT
Fixed. The default editor will open the file with the In-Place Editor for file types such as *.doc, *.ppt, essentially the same behaviour as opening files of these types from the Navigator view.

[target cleanup] 1.0 RC3 was the original target milestone for this bug
