Description Andreas Goetz CLA 2006-09-23 12:12:35 EDT
In bug 156979, I've tried to install UML2 using the update site. This works fine when not using mirrors. Once 'Automatically select mirror' is turned on, the install fails as no features to install are found. It seems that the (automatically) selected mirror site does not fully mirror the UML features.
My proposal is that the mirror selection should automatically fall back to the original site or any of the other mirrors if the mirror does not offer the same (full) content as the original site.

I think this is a dupe of bug 145235

Not quite- in my case the mirror was physically available, but did not have the original content. Both issues should be addressed.

Update Manager cannot be responsible for mirror content. Garbage in, garbage out.

For sure. It might know though that original site is fine and mirror not- and in this case switch to next mirror or back to original site? Since the mirrors are auto-discovered, that should be possible?
