Description Darryl Miles CLA 2006-09-20 12:41:17 EDT
It would be really dandy if when executing the native binary eclipse/eclipse (linux) or eclipse\eclipse.exe (for windows) that it supported the option -h -help or /h /help.

-h -help -? on linux
/h /help /? on windows (or maybe windows also uses -help style options like linux? in that case just -help)

It is also customry to dump help information when invalidation options are passed to a binary (as well as when one or more of the above options are explicitly given), however I'm not sure it would be easily possible to have unknown options dump help information and terminate, as I think that maybe unused options are passed to the Java runtime to process.

But even so if the Java runtime should process those options and any it does not understand it should abort with diagnogstic this is the main way feedback given that command line options are valid and accepted.

At the moment eclipse starts up and ignores the options it doesn't understand (so I can't tell if it accepted them or if it ignored them).
