Description Simon Archer CLA 2006-09-16 13:03:11 EDT
There does not seem to be any formal documentation for the PDE supplied Ant tasks <pde.exportFeatures> and <pde.exportPlugins>. While code assist is provided in the Ant editor, you're left to guess the attribute values and usage
rules.

- Please provide user documentatation for these tasks. Documenation in the
the same format as the Ant documentation would be ideal. For example:
  http://ant.apache.org/manual/CoreTasks/echo.html

- Please improve the code assist suggestion text to include the possible values
and rules for the attributes. Compare code assist for <pde.exportFeatures>
and <pde.exportPlugins> with other tasks, such as <echo>.

- Oh, and please can we have this for Eclipse 3.3. :-)

No documentation for <pde.convertSchemaToHTML> either.

I'm in the progress of moving from PDE build to Tycho for a rather large project. However we have to do it step by step so I figured my first one would be to use *.target files for target definition. I stumbled over these Ant tasks after quite a lot of poking around for a solution. However I'm a bit concerned that there is still is no documentation for these tasks. Which makes me wonder whether or not they are supported or maybe have stopped working at some point.

Sorry about the confusion, I just realized that I posted on the wrong bug. I was looking for documentation for "pde.provisionTargetDefinition", not the Ant tasks mentioned in the title.

The target provision task is treated very similar to the export tasks. They replicate functionality available in the UI that is supported and tested. The actual tasks do not get used or tested regularly.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
