Description Eugene Kuleshov CLA 2006-08-23 13:48:51 EDT
Currently new repository task wizard preselect repository and component based on the current selection.

It would be handy to have an option (e.g. using Shift-Click on "New Task" and new "New Repository Task") to skip the wizard and just create task using content of currently selected task (like a clone)

On the newsgroup Jimisola commented that Ctrl+drag could be a good UI for this.

I have doubts that dragging would be convenient and intuitive, but it could be an alternative option.

It should be possible to do this with keyboard only. So, Ctrl-Click or Ctrl-Enter on "new repository task" action maybe be more natural.

PS: sorry about confusion. initial description should say Ctrl-Click and not Shift-Click.

My Ctrl-drag is the regular Windows Explorer was of copying e.g. a file.

For a keyboard only solution I would go with the regular Copy-Paste, i.e. Ctrl-C + Ctrl-V or Ctrl-C + Shift-Insert.

The big difference here is that new task should show an editor, when all of those ctrl-drag, ctrl-c/v work totally quiet.

True. If you use Ctrl-drag-n-drop in Package Explorer on a resource, e.g. a .java file then you get a dialog asking for the filename of the new file...

Sorry, I've lost track of that--please point me at the corresponding bug or file a new one and I'll try to set it for 1.0.
