Description annnnn CLA 2006-07-25 05:16:14 EDT
I have 2 plugins: Plugin A and B. A is the main pluging that contains "Application implements IPlatformRunnable". A has a perspective Pa and B contains another perspective Pb, respectively.

In A is an action X that tries to uninstall Bundle(B). Everything goes fine if there isn't any perspective extensions in plugin.xml (B). As soon as I declare at least one perspective in B an ErrorDialog pops-up and notifies with the following message: "Unable to load perspective", "Reason: Premature end of file".

Looking through the PerspectiveRegistry source I figured out that exception rised at line 164 when invoking "unableToLoadPerspective" method from mergePerspectives.

Regards,
Cristinel Angheluta

I think the problem comes from the removal of the plugin perspective extensions. I have the same error when I remove a perspective extension with the IExtensionRegistry. The error is launched in the PerspectiveRegistry by the preference listener, method mergePerspectives(PropertyChangeEvent).

I'm also seeing this problem in 3.2.1 when the dynamically uninstalled bundle contained a perspectiveExtension. However, I cannot reproduce the error in 3.3M4.

I'm also running into an "unable to load perspective"/"premature end of file" problem when trying to install one of the JDK sample apps from the Welcome page. This happens in ConfigurationActivator.installBundles()#182 (bundlesToUninstall[i].uninstall();), running Eclipse 3.2.2

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
