Description Ed Burnette CLA 2006-06-26 12:59:45 EDT
Start Eclipse, navigate to the Callisto Discovery Site, put a check mark next to Charting and Reporting. The following error appears:

Eclipse BIRT Report Designer Feature (2.1.0.N20060620-1643) requires plug-in "org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.oda.design.ui (3.0.1)", or compatible.

Click the Select Required button and nothing happens.

Workaround: put a checkmark next to Database Development, and also Enabling Features, and then click Select Required and the error clears itself.

This sounds like a problem EMF had ... if your features depend on specific plugins instead of just other features, UM won't be able to resolve those when hitting 'select required'. See bug 131807, bug 133826, bug 133823, bug 133822, bug 131584, ...

Per details in bug 148914... after restarting, I was able to install the following projects, even if I can't install them right out of the box with an empty Eclipse 35M platform install:

* Eclipse BIRT Report Designer Framework 1.0.0.N20060620-1643
* Graphical Modeling Framework (Callisto Edition) 1.0.0.v20060609-1400
* TPTP Reporting with BIRT 4.2.0.v200606121835--J3Fdf2f36X6t7Y

Still, this is a usability issue as not everyone will have the patience to install prereqs (eg., EMF, UML2, JDT) then try to install higher-level projects thereafter. Might be worth seeing if this happens when you start with the full 123M Eclipse SDK instead of just the 35M base platform install.

Depend on features instead of specific plugins. Fixed this issue.
