Description Curtis d'Entremont CLA 2006-06-14 17:19:10 EDT
3.2 RC7

On XP, try the SWT samples, in the samples view on the Button tab, select SWT.PUSH then select SWT.FLAT. The SWT.FLAT doesn't appear to do anything.

If this is a limitation in XP, you can close but would be good to have it documented somewhere.

This is a platform limitation that was previously investigated.

There is not currently a place where platform differences like this are listed, but these are being accumulated for a future document/article, so this has been noted.

Actually, looking again, this isn't quite the same as the duplicate report. Reopening.

SN, does XP do this some other way? Or not?

Why would platform specific behavior/differences not be listed directly in the Javadoc? This is were developers look when building applications.

The Javadoc for SWT.FLAT, although not great, does indicate that it is a hint. The problem with encoding things like this in the Javadoc is that they change between releases of the operating system and theme managers.

I don't want to hijack this bug with javadoc discussion (even though it somewhat applies to this bug)...I will post future replies about proper placement of platform specific documentation on the platform-swt-dev mailing list.
