Description Genady Beryozkin CLA 2002-04-11 16:01:01 EDT
Eclipse runs on Windows NT/XP, (and the project is checked out to samba drive.)
The CVS server (1.11) is on a Linux machine, Redhat 7.2.

When I checkout the project or receive any new files from an update, they
are created as "read only". I have to manually change their permission to
writable. Generally this may seem ok, since I have to checkout the files before
editing, but I don't have such option in eclipse.

This happens with new team only (2/Apr/2002). The old VCM works fine.

Whatever solution you might choose, will be ok.

CVS Server version 1.11 is not supported. Please upgrade to 1.11.1.1p1 or later.

Aside: We now respect the permission sent by the CVS server so its possible
that 1.11 is communicating that the files should be read only. It is also
possible that it is related to the use of SAMBA. If, after upgrading, you still
see the problem, please reopen this bug report or create a new one.

Still a bug.
Eclipse build: F2 on WinXP.
CVS server : 1.11.1p1 on RedHat Linux 7.2

Marking post 2.0, unfortunately we're out of time. I think we'll need a
similar setup to debug this -- we've not seen it before, and the variable that
differs is samba.

Unless someone can luck into a fix between now and Tuesday, in which case we'll
reopen.

I checked it on Windows file server network drive and the
files are still read only. maybe there is some problem with our repository.
do you have any idea where to look for it ?
