Description James Kingdon CLA 2006-03-30 11:01:42 EST
This is a little bit tricky to reproduce, the key is having the window the right size.
1) Open the J2EE perspective, reset to defaults if necessary.
2) Open a console view
3) Select the servers tab
4) Resize the servers window until the debug/run/etc buttons pop to the line below the tabs
5) Resize the servers window until the debug/run/etc buttons *JUST* pop up to the line with the tab. Make sure the window is not resized again during the rest of the test.
6) Select the console tab, and close the console view
7) Make sure the Servers view is displayed, then re-open the console view
8) If the defect has been demonstrated, the buttons for the console should be in the normal place, and the buttons from the servers view should be displayed on the line below. These buttons are still active! Note that the appearance is different, but still incorrect, if the console has been used before the above procedure is run. In this case, because the console window has extra buttons, the console button bar is drawn underneath the servers button bar instead of above.
9) Switching between tabs corrects the display

The problem has been observed both on windows and linux, and I don't think it is specific to the particular windows described above.

James, can you supply a screenshot? (a picture is indeed worth a 1,000 words in these cases...;-)

Screen shot showing incorrect buttons

As requested, screen shot showing buttons from servers view inappropriately drawn in the console view. Red highlight added to indicate incorrect buttons.

And this is a 3.1.2 problem? Hmmmm.

It's similar to a couple of other I have open like bug 128455 but I'm going to wait until I can confirm it before I close it as a dupe.

Can you reproduce this in 3.2.x? Preferably M6 (which will be out by Monday).

Is this still a problem in 3.3?

The latest driver I have to hand is 3.2.1 which still has the problem.
I'll try and grab a later driver when I get some more time.

Oh, this is still a problem in 3.3, but a dup.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
