When user select a part of the swt chart, it is pretty common to expect that part of the chart to be highlighted or slightly updated in some way to indicate the current selection.  Right now, there's no indication for selected part from the chart.

you can use the highlight action with a mouseclick or mouseover trigger for 
that purpose. The org.eclipse.birt.chart.examples demonstrate this behavior. 
Note it only can highlight the whole series, not individual categories, there 
are some pending bugs regarding that.
