In the Java extension, the drop down menu action "Package Presentation" does not contribute itself until the context menu appears, and then does not have the right toggle state. 

In the original JDT patch, this behavior seemed to be working correctly. Were there modifications to this component?

I'm not aware of any changes in JDT-land that could have caused this. I've commented out the unused field fViewActionGroup in PackageExplorerActionProvider (bug 129348), but there were no other changes in jdt.internal.ui.navigator.

AFAICS, the changes to other parts of the Package Explorer should not have any influence on the presentation actions.
