This problem occurs mostly when debugging but also occasionally at other moments: When I debug a launch configuration, and then I switch from the Java to the Debug perspective, the 'button bar' which contains buttons such as 'terminate' 'switch console' etc. stays visible at its old location on the screen where it was located in the Java perspective. The rest of the console however does not show; the button bar just shows somewhere in the middle of my debug views. The buttons are still clickable; for instance I can still terminate my configuration by clicking the 'phantom' terminate button. If I resize some view then the phantom buttons remain visible; however if I minimize the whole Eclipse and maximize it again, then they are gone. This does not only happen when debugging; I have also seen it happen once with the problems view. Also it does not only happen when switching from Java to Debug perspective; the same phenomenon also occurs when switching from Debug to Java. It does not happen every time I debug; I am not 100% sure but it seems to happen more often if I have already another launch configuration running in Eclipse.
I noticed that it matters which presentation style I use: I was using Eclipse 2.1 style; when I use the default presentation style then the problem does not seem to occur.
Sounds similar to bug 128455, except for the differences between 2.1 and default presentation modes.
Created attachment 38154 [details] buttons from package view inside the source editor Just had it again with 3.2 M6: See the attachment: There are buttons from the pacakge explorer hanging inside my Java source editor. The 'Link with editor' button still shows its tooltip and is clickable. It happened when I ran a JUnit testcase. I don't know if it matters but this time I ran it using the 'coverlipse' test coverage plugin.
