Description Lawrence Mandel CLA 2006-02-16 23:56:39 EST
If Eclipse or my machine crashes the workspace state, including the open editors, views, perspective, etc. are not maintained when Eclipse is restarted. I'd like to request that the platform perform a periodic save of the state/preferences set while working. I'm not sure everything that is saves when the workspace is closed needs to be saved but admittedly am not sure.

The Platform/Resources component periodically saves the data that it needs in order to recover from a crash. (a list of the projects you have, their locations, markers, sync info, etc)

Other components are given an opportunity to participate in the saving/snapshotting via the ISaveParticipant mechanism. Moving to Platform/UI to consider saving workbench state during a snapshot.

Verified that this is a dup of bug 2369. I'll track the status through that bug.
