On the same model than the "cc yourself checkbox", it would be good to have a similar checkbox or directly a button to assign a bug to yourself.

I agree this function could be very usful. I think the main problem is the "Accept bug" option. IMHO it should also change the assignee to the accepter. There is a similar option on the create attachment screen (take bug).

This bug depends on the outcome of bug 104100 comment 6, or for Mozilla to implement the feature outlined in comment 1

Based on the comments on the Bugzilla bug, this has been moved to Bugzilla 3.2.  Closing as resolve later and we can reopen this when it's supported by bugzilla.

Reopening.  This functionality is implemented in Bugzilla's dev branch, and should be available for Bugzilla 3.2 (future).

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92552 is fixed for Bugzilla 3.2.  Yay.  I tripped over this again tonight.

This is fixed.  Actually, it's not a checkbox, but now you can change the status to ASSIGNED and set an assignee (yourself, or anyone else) at the same time.  This was two steps before.
