Description Panagiotis Korros CLA 2006-01-09 10:49:59 EST
I tried to update eclipse using the update manager. I had to enter the username/password to access the proxy server too many times. I didn't counted but they were >50 many for my eclipse installation.

This makes eclipse update manager unsusable under this situation.

This is the authentication dialog I had to fill in.

Checked teh code
UpdateManagerAuthenticator had more in 2.0 than 3.0
In 2.0 we were saving the uid/pwsd and we were returning it to the proxy without prompting user
In 3.0+ it does not do that, so if the server sends 407 back all the time, the user will be prompted all the time

Is there a reason why we removed the code ? or is it somewhere else ?

I believe we can close this with the new platform proxy level support.

Please try the 4/10/07 integration build.
