Description Yegor Jbanov CLA 2005-11-17 12:36:54 EST
When you undock (using drag&drop) a view with, for example, package explorer to
its own window and try to use DELETE key to delete a file, the deletion will
occur in the editor in the main window.

I have a dual monitor and use floating windows quite frequently to leave more
space for the source editor. I created a UML2 diagram and then decided to delete
it. I selected it in the package explorer and pressed DELETE key from keyboard.
Instead of deleting the file, Eclipse deleted a character in my Java source
editor at the current cursor position. Note that the cursor is not visible at
this moment because the focus is on the undocked package explorer. I will attach
a screen-shot of the undocked window.

I posted it on the eWorkbench because it looks like a window management problem
of the RCP's workbench.

Thanks

Sorry, you have the wrong Product and Component. eRCP is for devices, not desktop.
You probably want Product "platform".

Sorry about that.

Now, how can I move this report to "Platform"? When I tried to move it I got an
error saying that only the submitter or a privileged user can move the bug. It's
strange since I am the submitter.

Nevermind. I moved it.

Another small observation is the way the undocked windows behave relative to modal dialogs. In Windows XP if you try to activate a window blocked by a modal dialog you will hear a blocking sound and the modal dialog will blink for a couple of seconds to indicate that it blocks the window you are trying to activate. However when you try to activate an undocked window only the blocking sound is made but no blinking is seen.

This appears to work now...
