It would be real nice if I could globally change the color schemes in eclipse, this black text on white background is killing me! I know i can change the back ground of the java editor, but then it doesn't do anything for the other windows (package explorer, console, problems, etc.) I also know that I can change the default colors for my OS via the Display Properties, but I really just want my editor to be dark, not my whole OS. This is the greates editor ever made, I am surprised that this has not been added yet, almost every other IDE I have worked with supports it. Is there any plans on making this a feature of eclipse? Thanks

Most plugin have their own preferences for font color and background. Very often it is dark font (that becomes invisible on black background) Eclipse Color Theme http://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/eclipse-color-theme is managing these preferences through mapping, supporting plugins one by one. Recently Eclipse Color Theme is inactive, likely because of coming changes in Luna. Is Bug 113112 - "[Themes] Support global color schemes" address in M5/M6 of Luna? (copied from Bug 425646 - [Themes] Support for black and inverted color UI themes - check that current theme is black/inverted)
I think that on is fixed with Eclipse Luna M6 We can style the appearance of CSS and the CSS can be linked to font and color settings. See http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops4/S-4.4M6-201403061200/news/
