Bug 99601

Summary: [change method signature] issues wrong error message on vararg clash in overriding method
Product: [Eclipse Project] JDT Reporter: Tobias Widmer <tobias_widmer>
Component: UIAssignee: Markus Keller <markus.kell.r>

Description Tobias Widmer CLA 2005-06-13 06:32:20 EDT
3.1 RC2

Steps to reproduce:
- Consider following snippet:

class Top<E> {
    void add(E[] e) {}
}
class Sub extends Top<String> {
    void add(String... s) {}
}

-> Invoke CMS on Top#add, append new parameter of type Object...
-> The refactoring status entry shows in the context of Sub#add:

The last parameter 'e' must end ....

-> There is no parameter 'e' in this context
-> The real problem is that Sub#add already defines a vararg parameter

Unhappy, but shippable ;-).

Markus, something to look at in 3.2.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
