the text below is really irrevelant, becuase most of the messages being sent to this list from a non-member is more than likely SPAM, and possibly being sent from a dummy or unmonitored email address. I don't get it. I am talking about the messages coming from real people that are rejected (because they should have been posted to the newsgroups instead). But you marked this as fixed. Does that mean you changed the default message? You're message has been added into mailman. It should take effect the next time mailman is restarted. Thanks. Thanks. Just to confirm... hasn't it been reset since then? The reject message was changed to what's written in Comment 0. However, several users e-mailed me because they didn't know they needed to subscribe to the list before posting a perfectly legitimate e-mail. I have since changed the rejection notice to this: You must subscribe to mailing lists before you can post to them, using the same e-mail address as the one you're using to send e-mail. However, technical questions and discussions about using eclipse and eclipse-based tools, and developing plug-in tools should be posted to the newsgroups at http://eclipse.org/newsgroups/ . Mailing list suffixed with -dev, such as eclipse-dev and platform-dev are intended for use by developers actually working on or otherwise contributing to day-to-day development. The development mailing lists are the way design and implementation issues are discussed and decisions voted on by the committers. If you are a member of this list and you think that your messages are being rejected in error, contact the mailing list owner at... |
