Description

Sounds like a layout problem in the dialog itself since it is managing the sash. I think this is a duplicate of an older bug, but the steps given here are very clear. I believe this is the same bug as described here: 1- Using linux (I'm using RH 3U6) launch eclipse 2- Open the preferences dialog 3- Expand one of the categories (in my case, there are many nested categories since WTP is installed, but category in the tree at the left will do) 4- Close the dialog (OK or Cancel) 5- Reopen the dialog The result is that the preferences dialog is resized to fit the full height of the category tree. Where this becomes a bigger problem is (as in my case) there are many categories and a lower resolution is used -- the dialog is resized such that the OK & Cancel buttons are no longer visible. (In reply to comment #3) > ... > 4- Close the dialog (OK or Cancel) > 5- Reopen the dialog > The result is that the preferences dialog is resized... Similar but not the same, in this bug you don't have to cloese-n-reopen the preferences window. My steps: a. open preferences window b. change the selected item in the left tree c. move the vertical split bar d. the preference window will get bigger. e. repeat through b to d, finally the window will eat all the screen space, fortunately, not the task bar in windows. NB: one of b or c is optional ocasionally. Another problem is that by moving the split bar, one panel can be unlimitedly enlarged meanwhile cause the other squeezed too much. The expected rule: if a panel already has enough room, then moving the split bar to enlarge it yields no effect, no squeezing the other panel or even cause the window to grow. PS: this bug will soon turn 2, action please, before it gets stronger. :P There are currently no plans to work on this although we would be happy to review a patch *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 278234 *** |
