It would be really conveinient if the Java editor could automatically wrap text
inside Javadoc comments at a set line length, when its entered, as happens in
eg a word processor.

When writing (or modifying existing) long documentation blocks, manually
handling word wrap is quite time consuming. Espcially if, eg a line length get
changes, and all lines following that need to be corrected.

Move to JDT/UI

This is not a duplicate of bug 35779. Ben asks for a way to enable "Format Source on every keypress" while inside of a Javadoc comment (and limiting the formatter to said comment).

Bug 35779 asks for soft wrap.
Comment 4 Dani Megert CLA 2009-02-06 03:35:21 EST
In that case you can use save actions which will format the Javadoc (and the source) on save.

Eclipse is so popular because of the immediate visual feedback which you put so much effort in. Why not here, too?

I mean, he could just press Ctrl-Shift-F repeatedly ... only that would also reformat the rest of the code and I, for one, wouldn't want that. The Eclipse formatter is pretty good but not half as good as I am at making code readable :)
