Martin, can you please comment.
Comment 3 Martin Aeschlimann CLA 2005-05-31 06:26:45 EDT
The status is shown by the org.eclipse.jface.dialogs.StatusDialog
It would be better if the status is shortened (a la CLabel) in this case.
Comment 4 Tod Creasey CLA 2005-05-31 13:38:23 EDT
Is this because your Status is too long? If so you should shorten it as the
ellipsis may cut out important information.
Comment 5 Martin Aeschlimann CLA 2005-06-01 03:44:50 EDT
Length of a message always depends on factors like language and font size.
Shortening the (English) message on our side might definitly make sense, but
doesn't save the dialog from implementing a solution to avoid clipping text.

changing title to reflect issue.
Benjamin, are you saying in this case you would rather see the text than the image? Or that you would rather there be some other truncation? Note that in bug #99909 we are getting complaints about the image going away before the text...

As per http://wiki.eclipse.org/Platform_UI/Bug_Triage_Change_2009

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
