I like the idea of showing progress at startup - however I would like it even
better if progress was not shown using a conventional progress monitor. Most
applications show progress messages in the splash screen (Photoshop, Gimp, Acrobat).

Not sure whether this easy to accomlish... but here goes the request anyway.
