Description David W Hare CLA 2005-04-06 15:49:35 EDT
It seems probable that this is coming from the JRE, but I'm opening the bug just
in case.

An error was encountered when running a Hyades Test. The error displays as:

java.io.UTFDataFormatException: (corrupted characters)

See screenshot, and log file...

Would you have some steps to reproduce? I don't think this is related to the
compiler. This looks more like a runtime issue.
Would you have a log file for us to look at?
Comment 3 Matthew T. Veety CLA 2005-08-05 11:58:21 EDT
This was originally opened by the a previous employee. I am attaching the test
case run by the Russian tester and screenshots of his curruptions.

Moving to JDT/Debug for further assesment. Is this a pure JRE bug or a flaw in
our runtime support ?
Comment 7 Darin Wright CLA 2005-08-08 08:57:35 EDT
Could this be a problem with the editor that is displaying the error? i.e. a
translation issue? If this is a Hyades editor, have they looked at the problem?
Comment 8 Darin Wright CLA 2005-08-08 09:05:05 EDT
Debug does not own the editor or the ".execution" file type. Any idea how the
file is generated?
Comment 9 Tod Creasey CLA 2005-08-15 14:00:41 EDT
This is a problem with a poorly selected font for Russian. Moving to Hyades for
more information.

The boxes indicate a missing glyph and the ? missing seperators. If they are
using a system font we may wantto choose a different one for Russian.
Comment 10 Karice McIntyre CLA 2005-08-15 14:58:54 EDT
Missing translated JFace font properties files could be the reason why this
problem is happening. See bug 107009
Comment 11 Matthew T. Veety CLA 2005-08-16 12:47:46 EDT
We cannot recreate this problem in Eclipse 3.1 - the tester has agreed to close
the problem.

We, however, can not close this bug. Someone else will need to do it.
Comment 12 Karice McIntyre CLA 2005-08-17 10:40:17 EDT
Fixing 107009 will only fix the display part of this bug i.e. the characters
will display correctly. The fact that the data format is not correct is a
separate problem.
