Created attachment 35951 [details] non user friendly ole error dialog Open with "In-place Editor" is enabled for any file and fails for most files. Just create a file foo.nosuchextension (something for which no ole editor exists on windows) and open with "In-place Editor" will show a dialog that I do not consider user friendly. For a user it seems like an internal error. An empty editor gets created. I think a more user friendly behaviour should be chosen. (We got customers that reported this behaviour as bug). The error dialog should at least explain what's the user can do and no empty editor should be open. Naive users may think that they should restart eclipse after a fatal error like this.
